Steven Gradidge. Hi :)

Christmas Ignorance.

Posted on: December 27, 2011

I don’t feel the need to say too much in this post. I can’t be bothered too either (it is Crimbo!). Despite not being terribly religious myself, I love Christmas. I love everything about it:

  • Seeing friends/family you don’t normally see
  • The plethora of food
  • Presents
  • The cliche media images on TV

All enjoyable I’m sure you will agree. Christmas instils that warm fuzzy feeling in preparation of often high hopes for the new year. With this in mind I’d like to share another Pat Condell video (who I had only discovered on Christmas day of all days). Enjoy đŸ™‚

Another great thing about Christmas is the football fixture list. Literally shit loads of football over the Christmas break. For the ladies this can be seen as excessive but I’d argue otherwise. Football is an important pastime for billions of people around the world and is considered by many as ‘the global language’. A language that is free from politically, ethical and racial conception. With this in mind I will take this opportunity to give my opinion about the Luis Suarez case.

The English FA, the Governing body have thrown the book at the Uruguayan striker and in doing so, highlighted their bigotry and clumsiness when faced with cultural sensitivities foreign to them (no pun intended). Punish first and educate after looks to be the process applied in this case. Ignorance at the highest level should not be tolerated, regardless of the context. Please note this Mr. Leveson.
